Call for Increased Collaboration to Boost Continental Growth

Egyptian Minister Advocates for Enhanced Partnerships

Cairo, Egypt - May 14, 2024 - Egypt has called for increased economic cooperation among African nations, emphasizing the need to foster collaboration and partnerships to drive continental growth. The call came during the recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting in Marrakech, Morocco.

Speaking at the event, Egyptian Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Dr. Hala El-Said, highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties within Africa. She stressed that cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure development would be crucial for unlocking the continent's economic potential.

Emphasizing the role of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Dr. El-Said urged African countries to embrace the opportunity it provides to expand trade and investment flows within the region. She also called for greater investment in infrastructure projects, which she said would facilitate cross-border trade and economic cooperation.

The Egyptian government has been actively engaging with other African countries to promote economic cooperation. In recent years, Egypt has signed several bilateral trade agreements and has participated in various regional economic initiatives aimed at fostering growth and development.
