Tributes pour in for Minnesota Vikings CB Khyree Jackson
Former Oregon standout tragically killed in car crash
Jackson was a promising young player with a bright future in the NFL
Former Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson, a fourth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft, died on Saturday at the age of 24.
Jackson was killed in a car crash, according to the Vikings. The crash occurred in Jackson's hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. Two other people were also killed in the crash.
Jackson was a standout player at Oregon, starting 29 games over four seasons. He finished his college career with 99 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 24 pass breakups. Jackson was also a standout sprinter for the Ducks, helping the team win the 4x100-meter relay at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The Vikings released a statement expressing their condolences to Jackson's family and friends. "Khyree was a talented and dedicated young man who had a promising future in the NFL," the statement said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
Jackson's death is a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving. The crash is still under investigation, but police have said that alcohol was a factor.
